Civic association VELbloud

The civic association VELbloud was founded as a logical outcome of the long term activities of a group of experts, who were for quite a while, apart from their professions, intensively interested in the area of the wider Islamic region. The publications and lectures of the future association members were too unsystematic to contribute to solving of many problems and questions associated with the Islamic region and its integration into the western, European society. The association was founded in 2008 and right since its beginning has been clear about its aims and areas of interest: A foundation of periodically published magazine with focus on high information content and quality photographic attachment. An attempt to realise culturally-edifying and professional contacts between the European and the Islamic world, with an aim for mutual understanding and bond. To correct and improve the perfunctory and often mistaken media presentations, that are frequently the reason for general negativism and intolerance. The association gradually prepares and presents projects that provide understanding of the Islamic world to a wider public often mislead by the media negative interpretation. At the same time the association is trying to use the expertise of its members to organize its own rescue, ecological and documentary projects. Besides from working on the magazine, the association arranges one-topic, culturally-edifying meetings. Last but not least are mobile exhibitions and lecture tours.
